COLUMBUS, Miss.  (WCBI) — It’s the season of giving and local residents are donating to a worthy cause.
The Lowndes County School District held a Christmas toy drive for St. Jude Children’s Hospital. The toy drive was in honor of St. Jude patients, Will Ayers and Ryan Smith, who is the son of former WCBI Chief Meteorologist Rob Smith. The toy drive was also held at Walmart in Columbus and Lowndes County students volunteered their time to help. Dozens of toys were collected and volunteers say it’s all about giving back this Christmas season.

“We’re out here just to collect toys for students at St. Jude just because a lot of them that are there battling cancer without their families. We’re just hoping to bring some joy and happiness to their Christmas season,” said Ally Johnson.

The toys that are collected will be delivered to St. Jude Children’s Hospital on December 19th.
