Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Makes Several Arrests

LOWNDES CO., Miss. (PRESS RELEASE) – The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department was busy this week.

The following arrests were made by Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department and Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit.

                        CAREY CHAPPELL

On Wednesday February 10, 2016 a Deputy with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Warrant Division and Agents with the Narcotics Unit conducted a traffic stop on West Jess Lyons Road in Lowndes County. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of ice methamphetamine. The driver Carey Chappell, 47, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine. He was transported to the Lowndes County Adult Detention Center where he was held and also charged with violation of probation.

                            TONY FARMER

On Wednesday February 17, 2016 Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Jess Lyons Road and Military Road in Lowndes County. The driver, Tony Farmer, was found to be wanted for six outstanding warrants with the Columbus Police Department. Farmer was arrested and transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center. After arriving at the detention center he was found to have marijuana in his possession hidden in his shoe. Agents with the Sheriff’s Department Narcotics unit were notified and Farmer, 18, of Columbus was charged with possession of a controlled substance in a jail facility.

On Wednesday February 17, 2016 Agents with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department Narcotics Unit and the Warrants Division conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Highway 182 and Mt. Vernon Road in Lowndes County. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of a substantial amount of ice methamphetamine. The driver, Cindy M. Langford, 39, of Columbus was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. Langford was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where she is being held. Langford was also on parole at the time of her arrest.

                            JAVARIS COX

On Thursday February 18, 2016 Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Bluecutt Road and Leigh Drive. It was found that the driver’s license was suspended. After further investigation a search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of over one ounce of marijuana. The driver, Javaris Cox, 27, of Columbus was arrested and charged with Careless driving, driving with a suspended driver’s license, no insurance, and possession of marijuana more than one ounce. Cox was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center awaiting an initial appearance for a bond to be set.

On Thursday February 18, 2016 Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Highway 182 at the State Line Fuel Center. After a brief investigation and a search of the vehicle deputies seized ice methamphetamine, marijuana, and Adderall pills. The driver, Jeanie Miller, 31, of Columbus was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (Adderall), and possession of marijuana. Miller was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where she will await an initial appearance for a bond to be set.

                         TYLOR BLAKNEY

On Thursday February 18, 2016 Deputies with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Hemp Road in Lowndes County. A search of the vehicle resulted in the seizure of ice methamphetamine. The driver, Tylor Blakney, 25, of Aliceville was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine. Blakney was transported to the Lowndes County Detention Center where he is awaiting an initial appearance for a bond to be set.
