Lowndes County Shooting Update

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Two people continue to recover after a shootout in the middle of a Lowndes County road.

Deputies say the victims were shot as they were running away, near the intersection of Highway 373 and Land Road.

One person was shot in both legs and the other person was shot in the hip.

A large amount of shell casings was found in the road.

Investigators believe an argument on Saturday led to the Sunday evening shooting.

Deputies say there was a party at a home, near where the shooting occurred, with about 50 people attending.

Several arrests are expected but none have been made at this time.
