Lowndes County Tax Assessor asking residents to use mail-in option

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – We’ve all got to renew our license plate.

Long lines around the Lowndes County Tax Assessor’s Office drive-through showed how we’re changing the renewal process.

Tax Assessor Greg Andrews said his office will soon send out 4,000 car tag renewals for April.

He’s asking as many drivers as possible to use the mail-in option, rather than the drive-through.

Andrews said, at times, lines of cars are streaming onto several streets causing a traffic jam.

Police will come through and clear the streets when necessary.
