Macon teen faces charges in Clay County after deputies recover gun

CLAY COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A teenager from Macon is facing charges in Clay County after deputies broke up a fight and recovered a gun.

It happened Saturday night at Love’s Truck Stop.

Clay County Sheriff Eddie Scott said deputies pulled into the parking lot when they saw a large group involved in an altercation.

Deputies arrested a 17-year-old male. They also recovered a gun reported stolen from Neshoba County.

The teenager was charged with possessing a stolen weapon.

“This is what law enforcement has been talking about, not only for adults but for juveniles too. Why would a 17-year-old be carrying a stolen weapon out of Philadelphia, Mississippi that could hold up to 40 rounds? Again, this was recovered in the parking lot of Love’s truck stop. If this type of weapon was fired in that parking lot then there would have been innocent people that could have been killed. So, this is what we were talking about. This is what we are dealing with and there is no reason for a juvenile to have this weapon on him at any time,” said Scott.

Scott said that the parents of juveniles will also start being charged
