Man Charged After Hitting Deputy, Reaching For Gun

TISHOMINGO, Miss. (WCBI) – Tishomingo County police have arrested a man after he attacked a deputy and tried to grab the deputy’s weapon.

Police were able to get 33-year-old Christopher Allen Whitfield under control. They were looking for him after there were reports of someone breaking into cars in the area.

Whitfield began resisting when the deputy checked him for weapons. Police found meth in his possession.

He’s charged with aggravated assault on a policeman, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, drug possession, possession of paraphernalia, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct.

Bond has not been set.
