Man Charged With Rape In Tishomingo County

IUKA (WCBI)  A year long journey towards justice in Tishomingo County as deputies charge an Alabama man with sexual battery.   The case started in October 2015 when a 16 year old girl filed a complaint against George Hawkins.

Investigators were able to interview the suspect in February of this year and obtain DNA samples from him.   Based on those findings Hawkins was indicted for sexual battery but had moved out of Mississippi.  He was located yesterday by Colbert County, Alabama deputies and arrested.   The 38 year old Hawkins waived extradition and has now been served with the Tishomingo County warrant and remains jailed on a $20,000 bond
