Man killed in accident along Tenn-Tom waterway

ITAWAMBA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A man had died after an accident along the Tenn-Tom Waterway in Itawamba County.

Sheriff Chris Dickinson said the accident happened as the barge was heading north, at the Sonny Montgomery Lock in Itawamba County.

The sheriff said the man was on the front of the barge, when he fell into the water and was crushed.

It took several hours for the waterway to be opened to normal traffic as investigators were looking into the accident.

It’s not clear if the man’s next of kin have been notified yet.
