MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The attorney for the man sentenced to 20 years in prison for manslaughter in Monroe County says an appeal will be filed.

Christopher Thompson was ordered to serve day for day of the two decade sentence because he is a habitual offender.

He was sentenced in Monroe County Circuit Court on Friday morning.

Thompson was arrested in March 2014 for the death of Tommy Harlow.

Thompson’s attorney tells WCBI the two men were cousins.

The men were Harlow’s sister’s home when the 50 year old was beat to death.
