Man Stops in North Miss. on 6,000 Mile Trip

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) — A Michigan man is checking an item off his bucket list, and he’s stopping in North Mississippi to do it.

Davie Pike is traveling all the way from the Great Lakes State for a 6,000 mile journey by boat.

He’s making a stop in Columbus Thursday to play some pickleball. He hopes to play in each state he passes through.

Pike tells WCBI he wanted to do this trip for fun.

“Two years ago, I thought, ‘I’m not getting any younger,'” Pike said. “I am 68 years old. If I am going to do it, I better do it now rather than later, because you don’t know if you are going to have your health tomorrow, and so my wife supported the idea, which kind’ve blew me away. She’s very supportive of me of something I want to do.”

Pike’s journey doesn’t end here in Mississippi.

He will continue his trip further south, and will head to Mobile, Alabama next.
