Market Street Festival Street Closings Announced

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – Market Street Festival will kick off this Friday, and the street closings for the annual event have been announced.

The closing times and locations are as follows:

Streets closing at 6:00AM on Friday, May 6th:

Main Street – 6 th Street to 5th Street (this block only)

Main Street – 5 th Street to 3rd Street (4th Street closed to through traffic)

5 th Street will remain open to North/South traffic until 3PM on Friday

Street closings at 3:00PM on Friday, May 6th: 

5 th Street – 2 nd Avenue North to 3rd Avenue South

College Street – 3 rd Street South to 7th Street South

Main Street – 3 rd Street to 7th Street

3rd Avenue South – 3rd Street to 7th Street

6th Street South – past the post office to 3rd Avenue South (Post Office traffic only)

4th Street South – Main Street to 3rd Avenue South

4th Street North – No through traffic between Main Street & 2nd Avenue North

3rd Street South – Main Street to 3rd Avenue South will be ONE-WAY going South.

The streets will be closed until clear and re-opened by the City of Columbus.

Special Entrances (FRIDAY AFTERNOON ONLY): 

COLLEGE & 7TH STREET SOUTH – First United Methodist Daycare Pick-up ONLY.

3 RD AVENUE & 3RD STREET SOUTH – St. Paul’s Episcopal School Pick-up ONLY.

Police officer at these posts should allow ONLY those that identify themselves as guardians picking up their children to enter.

Parking Lots that are CLOSED and must be VACATED: 

Parking lot behind J. Broussards

Parking lot beside Catfish Alley (behind Old 82)

Parking Lot behind US Post Office (not the small Post Office parking lot)

Gravel Parking Lot at Riverwalk Park Festival hours:

Concert at Riverwalk Park – Friday, May 6th–7:00PM – 10:30PM

Market Street Festival (Downtown) – Saturday, May 7th – 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Cars not removed at closing times will be towed at the owner’s expense.
