MHP Announces Labor Day Holiday Enforcement Period

MISSISSIPPI (PRESS RELEASE) – The Labor Day weekend will mark the last official holiday of the summer. MHP predicts it to be a busy weekend for travel.

Many will attempt to squeeze in one last vacation by making a trip to the beach or lake. Some will use the long weekend to go and visit friends or family.

Many others will travel to cheer on their favorite team for the first games of the 2016 College Football season.

Whatever your plans, the Mississippi Highway Patrol ask that you pay special attention to safety.

A weekend planned for celebration and fun could quickly turn to tragedy and heartbreak if a bad choice is made while driving.

Last year MHP investigated 132 crashes over the Labor Day Holiday Period that involved 37 injuries and 4 fatalities.

MHP will do its part over the weekend to ensure a safe holiday for Mississippi motorist by ramping up enforcement efforts.

The official MHP Labor Day Enforcement period will begin on Friday, September 2nd at 6PM and will end Monday, September 5th at Midnight.

MHP would ask that you do your part by slowing down, buckling up, turning off and/or putting down distractions and if you’ve had something to drink, don’t drive.

To report an emergency you can dial *HP/*47 from your mobile device.
