How does a mild winter impact bugs?

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI)-When it comes to winters this year has been pretty mild.

If you’ve been outside recently you might have noticed, so critters flying around.

Mosquitoes and wasps have been spotted during the past few days.

But the question is… Does a mild winter play a role in insect population?

“Insects that may over winter underground or in logs or structures, trees are probably more insulated, and a mild winter is not going to affect their population that much,” said Jovann Hill.

What can impact insects is when spring arrives according to Mother Nature Network. The earlier the spring, the more active insects become.
