Mississippi Chief Justice Speaks At MSU

STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – State Supreme Court Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. made a stop at Mississippi State on Friday.

He was the keynote speaker at MSU’s United States Constitution Day program.

Waller is a graduate of MSU and Ole Miss.

He has served as Chief Justice since 2009.

The longtime judge hopes more college students know the issues before going to the polls in November.

“I hope that the students think about the political process and stay informed and everyone of them vote in November and become aware of our judicial elections, because they are so important. In addition to the Presidential election, that’s the one everybody’s going to be focusing on but our judges and the people who are elected to the judiciary are critical to our way of life,” said Waller.

His presentation was part of the university’s Lamar Conerly Governance Lecture Series.
