MAYHEW, Miss. (WCBI) — The Mississippi State School Superintendent Carey Wright was at the Early College Convocation Monday.

We spoke to her about initiative 42 which will go to the voters in November.

The initiative would require the state to fully fund schools, and has been a a hot topic of disagreement between state politicians.
Wright says The State Board has not picked a side yet.

“The State Board of Education has not taken a position on initiative 42, and so I won’t get ahead of my board. I think the boards going to make a decision to take a stand on it. Then, I will be the one out there letting folks know exactly what the board, how the board feels about it. But we have not had a discussion about it at all yet,” says Wright, Superintendent of the State School Board.

The initiative 42 vote will happen the same day as the general election, November 3rd.
