Mississippi Woman Accused Of Shooting Husband Free On Bond

NEW ALBANY, Miss. (AP) – A 50-year-old Mississippi woman is free on $150,000 bond, charged with aggravated domestic assault for allegedly shooting her husband.

Union County Sheriff Jimmy Edwards tells local media outlets Cathy White, of Myrtle, was arrested and charged early Wednesday morning.

Edwards said his department got a call about 5:30 p.m. Tuesday that a shooting had occurred in Myrtle. He says they found the victim, who he did not name, with six wounds from a 9 mm pistol.

Edwards says deputies are looking into a motive, but the shooting appeared to stem from the couple’s separation over the weekend after about 30 years of marriage.

He said the husband underwent surgery and is expected to survive.

Online jail records do not list an attorney for White.
