Mississippians Are Not the Most Overweight

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – There’s some good news for Mississippians. According to the journal “Obesity”, people in Mississippi aren’t so fat after all. The recent study shows that people are significantly more obese in the northwestern states like Kansas, Missouri, Minnesota and North Dakota. So how did southerners get such a bad reputation for being overweight? Well, according to the journal, it’s because they’re more honest. Researchers divided the nation into 9 different regions during the study. When taking part in a national phone survey, southerners told researchers the truth about their weight. Once the actual weights were measured, the north-west central region weighed in the heaviest.
