MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – An early Monday morning accident in Monroe County leaves one person dead.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley says 27-year-old Jessica Lynn White of Baldwyn died in the collision between her Toyota Corolla and an 18-wheeler. Gurley says she was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple trauma.

White worked at Logan’s Roadhouse in Tupelo.

According to Cpl. Chris Turnipseed with the Mississippi Highway Patrol, around 3:45a.m. the two vehicles involved were traveling south on Highway 45 near Dryden Lane south of Highway 41 in the Wren community. Preliminary reports show White was going to turn right as indicated by her turn signal when she made a left turn instead, turning into the path of an 18 wheeler. The driver of the 18-wheeler, 34-year-old Christopher Estes of Shannon suffered only minor injuries.

The vehicles left the west side of the road and the truck overturned.

Crews spent hours transporting the produce from the wrecked 18 wheeler onto another truck.
