Monroe County recovery committee to start taking assistance applications

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The Long Term Recovery Committee that’s set up to help Monroe County storm victims will start taking applications Friday.

Monroe Strong is organizing the process to help people find resources and help to rebuild and repair from the April tornadoes which hit Hamilton and near Greenwood Springs.

Applications for assistance will be taken in multiple areas Monday through Friday.

Those locations are the city halls in Amory, Aberdeen, and Smithville.

Applications will also be accepted Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Center Hill Baptist Church, in Hamilton.

“You’re going to list what was damaged, the address, any trees, any vehicles, anything at all,” said Jessica Gray, 911 dispatcher in Monroe County. “It also gives you a place to request whatever kind of assistance you need, whether that be crisis counseling, whether it be food, housing, anything at all can be listed on those forms.”
