More charges for burglary and arson suspect

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – The charges are piling up against a Lowndes County man after an alleged holiday crime spree.

Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge says Jacob Conn, 25, is charged with stealing a Dodge truck before Christmas from Burns Dirt Construction.

Additional charges in Lowndes County come from several fires and burglaries at P & R Scrap on December 30 and 31.

Early in the morning on New Years Eve, Lowndes County deputies assisted Monroe County deputies in pursuing the stolen truck.

Investigators said Conn drove the truck across state lines into Alabama.

He then ran into the woods and was eventually held by private citizens and captured by the Lamar County Sheriff’s department and US Marshalls.

Lowndes County is charging the 25-year-old with 11 felonies in Lowndes County alone.

Among those are Arson, Burglary of a Commercial Building and Felony Taking of a Vehicle.

Arledge says Conn is also charged with running from deputies.

Conn is being held in the Monroe County Jail.

He has already been charged with six felonies there.
