GOLDEN TRIANGLE, Miss. – (WCBI) He’s taking the state’s Democratic message on the road. Mississippi Democratic Party Chairman Rickey Cole says economic interests are a top priority.

Cole says the party is advocating for women’s right to equal pay, and believes minimum wage should be raised.

He adds the push to improve the quality of life for Mississippians is why more and more Democrats are making their way into office.

“Mississippi has matured into a two party system. The Republicans win sometimes. We win sometimes. That’s the way it should be, but we want this to be a contest of ideas. We want to talk about ideas that matter. Pocketbook issues, quality of life, education, healthcare. These issues really matter to the average person,” says Cole.

Cole has been chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party since 2012.
