MSDH reports 498 COVID-19 cases, 20 deaths

The Mississippi Department of Health reported its largest single-day increase of COVID-19 cases.

498 new COVID-19 cases were reported Monday. Those new cases brought the state’s total to 17,768 cases. The majority of cases were in the 18-29 age range.

20 deaths were also reported Monday, including one death in Lee and Webster counties each. Nine of those deaths were from death certificate investigations between May 13 through June 1. A death from Chickasaw County is included in the death certificate investigations.

MSDH estimated about 11,000 people have recovered from the virus in Mississippi.
