MSU Cyber Camp

STARKVILL, Miss. (WCBI)—Over the next two weeks, at Mississippi State University about 40 middle and high school  students are programing robots that they will be able to take home…and no participating students nor their families have to pay a penny. The students are attending the gen cyber camp. The camp, sponsored by the national security agency or NSA, is designed to immerse talented and enthusiastic secondary school students in cyber-curriculum. The mission of the program is to attract, educate, and inspire a new generation of college bound students to the field of cyber security.

Faculty member, Sarah Lee says,”you only have to look as far as the newspaper, or the evening news to see the frequent cyber attacks in this country people are being targeted as individuals as well as businesses as well as the government and we along with NSA want to increase the pipeline of young people who are interested in cyber security who are interested in perusing careers in cyber security because we need them to help protect us as a country and its important for youth as well learn how to protect themselves online whether they pursue a career in cyber security or not they need to know how to protect their information on line”

participates live on campus and receive about 90 hours of formal instruction, supervised activities, challenges and interaction with cyber security students and professionals
