(MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss.)(WCBI NEWS) Mississippi State University administrators are investigating a Brazilian computer hacker’s claim that he breached University computers.

The claim was first posted Wednesday morning on a website dedicated to tracking and tracing claims of computer security breaches. The hacker claims to have accessed the usernames, actual names and passwords of 929 students.

A link on that site goes to a page where it does appear data from Mississippi  State students and faculty has been posted. MSU spokesman Sid Salter says all steps are being taken to protect the university community and that as soon as the school knows the impact of the apparent breach, that information will be shared.
