Multiple gun shots fired on Columbus’ North Side

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – There was a heavy police presence on Columbus’ north side after gunfire erupted Thursday night.

It just after 8 p.m. when police were dispatched to the intersection of 15th Avenue North and 22nd Street.

Investigators found multiple shell casings when they arrived on scene.

Police interviewed witnesses and combed through the area trying to piece together what happened.

Chief Fred Shelton said they’re still trying to determine exactly who fired the gunshots and why.

The chief said no injuries were reported and at this time no arrests have been made.
