‘Mystery Skype’ connects young area students to others around the nation
WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI) – Some local 2nd graders are putting their geography skills to the test.
Students at Church Hill Elementary school in West Point are playing a new game called Mystery Skype.
In the game, they have to Skype with another class from somewhere in America.
The goal is for them to figure out where the other class is from.
The kids go back and forth asking ‘yes’ or ‘no’ questions as they try to locate the other class.
The game might be fun, but they are working hard to apply the skills they have learned in the classroom.
“You know, on the surface it’s geography, but also they have to learn how to ask relevant questions, and their questions change as the game goes on,” Teacher Ivey Ivy added. “They have to look at the information we’ve already gathered and think critically and work together. Everybody has a role.”
The kids will continue to work on this game throughout the week.
