Names Of Columbus Police Chief Finalists Released

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – The names of the five Columbus police chief applicants that will be interviewed were released on Wednesday by Mayor Robert Smith.

At least three of the men have ties to the department.

There are also two out of state candidates.

Interim Chief Captain Fred Shelton, Waynesboro Police Chief Oscar Lewis III, and Moss Point Police Chief Art McClung are the candidates with ties to CPD.

The other candidates are Curtis Brame and Geoffrey Herweg.

Brame is a commander in North Chicago, Illinois.

Herweg is the Deputy Chief of the Lovington, New Mexico police department.

The five men will be interviewed January 19th.
