Natural Gas Rates To Rise

NORTHEAST, Miss. (WCBI) – Natural gas rates are on the rise for Mississippi’s largest gas utility.

Atmos Energy corporation plans to raise rates on all of its 260,000 customers in the state.

According to the Mississippi Public Service Commission, rates for yardstick residential customers should increase by about $2 a month.

While most of the “new” money will go to pipe repair and replacement, some will go to a program expanding natural gas service into rural areas

Atmos will spend $5 million next year, in the hopes of adding 1,000 customers.
