LOWNDES CO, Miss. (WCBI)- Time is running out for Lowndes County to update it’s 911 equipment.

Lowndes County Board of Supervisors President Harry Sanders says the technology the county is using is 10 years old.

It’s outdated and may not work in the new facility being built.

The county will hire a consultant to figure out what new equipment should be bought, along with its price tag.

Sanders says the deadline to buy the gear is approaching.

“We need to do this pretty quickly because our building will be completed probably in late July or early August of 2016, and while we’re building this we need to go ahead and get this equipment,” Sanders said.

The county is currently using A-T & T equipment under a state contract
