NEW ALBANY, Miss. (WCBI) — The people of New Albany and Union County came together Saturday to remember a very special baby.

People gathered at the Union County Fairgrounds. There was plenty of food. And dunking booths for the kids. And inside there was plenty of useful information like how to perform CPR on infant children. It was all part of Jagger’s Celebration of Life. Nearly four month old Jagger Zinzer died unexpectedly on December 1, 2014.

“He was sleeping and we found him unresponsive,” says his mother Jonde Zinzer. ” I did CPR to the hospital and it took 45 minutes. They were able to resussitate him but the brain damage was too severe .”

But thanks to doctors at LeBonheur Childrens hospital Jagger became a hero.

“We were able to donate his organs to two little girls, his heart and his liver so he was able to save lives through this,” his mother recounts. “So when God took him we also understood that he had a great purpose for his life and we’re just trying to live that out the best way we can.”

And Jagger’s father Jeff Zinzer was overwhelmed. “It means everything. You’re going to get me crying. I just know the support and the love from New Albany is amazing. I never felt so much love in my life. I just want to thank you guys for being here and supporting us and our family,” Zinzer says.

While the exact cause of Jagger’s death remains a mystery the family wants people to know about Sudden Infant Death Syndrome or SIDS.

Kathy Files is with the Mississippi SIDS and Safety Alliance.

“That is a diagnosis that is given to an infant that passes away that they have no reason or explanation for why that baby dies,” she says
And the Zinzers want to thank Gideons International for allowing people to use Jagger’s death to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

“The donations that are given are used to purchase Bibles which are distributed in over 200 countries around the world in 90 different languages,” says New Albany based Gideon Jeff Cousar.

And his family knows Jagger is smiling down on them from heaven.
