STARKVILLE, Miss. – (PRESS RELEASE) The Starkville School District will offer bus transportation for each school beginning with the start of the 2013-14 school year.

The new bus schedule will allow SSD to offer better, more efficient bus service, including shorter routes and reduced wait times, for our students and families.

While most routes will be divided by school, the District will operate some K-5 routes and some 6-12 routes in the areas of the District that extend beyond the city limits.

All buses in the SSD are equipped with security cameras and GPS tracking devices. SSD offers safe, dependable transportation to approximately 2500 students daily.

To determine your child’s bus number, please go to

to view the routes, which are divided by school. Addresses are listed in alphabetical order. Pick-up and drop-off times will likely be adjusted once drivers become more familiar with the new routes and schedule. If you cannot find your address, contact the transportation

office at 662.324.4190.

Please remember that the SSD is unable to provide transportation to private businesses. Also, SSD does not provide transportation to appointments for students, such as doctor’s offices, salons, private lessons, etc. Parents will be responsible for providing transportation

for their children if they have an appointment after school.

SSD will continue to provide transportation to SSD supported afternoon programs and non-profit programs, such as Exentended Day and The Boys

and Girls Club.

In addition, SSD will continue to service Mississippi State University in the afternoon as part of our long-standing partnership with the university. The MSU route will include a route for K-5 and a route for

6-12. Transportation is finalizing drivers and bus numbers for these routes, and they are not yet included in the schedules. We will provide them as soon as they are available. Parents, please make sure you designate on your child’s transportation card which building on campus

your child should get off the bus.

SSD will also offer morning and afternoon shuttle service for employee’s children. If your child attends one school and you work at another school in the District and you would like to take advantage of the shuttle service, call the transportation office at 662.324.4190.
