Police release statement regarding MUW shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) –  Police Chief Fred Shelton has issued a statement following the shooting incident at the W.

“For reasons we wont discuss publicly, we’re investigating the possibility that the victim shot himself. Investigators have recovered a weapon at the scene, in the victim’s truck. Police were on the scene within two minutes of the call at 12:59.”

It’s not policy for police to release the the name of victim.

At this time Columbus police believe the shooting was self inflicted.
