New developments in Lowndes County Sheriff race

LOWNDES COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – A major shake-up Wednesday in the race for Lowndes County Sheriff.

Major Greg Wright put his name on the ballot to be the county’s next top cop.

Currently, he leads the investigations division at the department and has previously served as chief deputy.

Archie Williams and Ryan Rickert have dropped out of the race.

Now, Wright and former jail administrator Rick Jones are the only names on the ballot.

The deadline to qualify to run is March 1.
