Potential storm shelters on the way for first responders

COLUMBUS, Miss. (WCBI) – First responders in Columbus could soon have a safe place to seek shelter whenever a storm strikes.

The city issued a notice of intent to FEMA requesting the storm shelters, and were informed they should receive nearly a dozen shelters.

The shelters can hold up to 15 people.

If approved, the shelters would be distributed to all five fire stations throughout the city.
