New tax resolution heads to state capitol

COLUMBUS, MISS. (WCBI)- Columbus leaders change a proposed one percent restaurant tax resolution.

A special meeting was held Thursday afternoon.

Lawmakers called Mayor Robert Smith to ask him to change the language in the resolution.

Specifically, legislators wanted the part about money being used for infrastructure and road improvements removed from the proposal.

Now, it states that money from the one percent tax would go to the maintenance and operation of the Terry Brown Amphitheater.
