NMMC Moves To Drop Mississippi Insurance Company

LEE CO., Miss. (WCBI) – North Mississippi’s largest hospital — and its related clinics — is ending its relationship with one of the state’s largest insurance companies.

North Mississippi Medical Center says it will no longer accept United Healthcare in 2017.

The move is being made because NMMC says United Healthcare is failing to accurately and fairly reimburse NMMC for services it has already provided to United Healthcare customers. The hospital says it is not a matter of trying to renegotiate contract payment rates.

A spokesman for United Healthcare says it has been meeting with North Mississippi Medical Center to better understand the claims and payments in question, and remains committed to working on the issue in hopes to remain a participant in the NMMC network.
