No Fatalities Reported During Christmas Travel Period

JACKSON, Miss. (WCBI)- The Mississippi Highway Patrol says there were no fatalities, on roads they monitored during the long Christmas weekend.

The holiday enforcement period on state and federal highways, began Friday evening and ended late Monday. MHP issued 4,226 citations, with 61 DUI arrests.

157 motor vehicle crashes were investigated, which included 40 injuries on state, federal highways, and interstates.

MHP says a high visibility of state troopers, and responsible driving from motorists, kept the roads safe.
