Noxubee Homicide Victim Identified, Child In Hospital Is Stable

NOXUBEE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Noxubee County Coroner RL Calhoun has identified the victim in a Tuesday morning shooting as Kelsey Pace, 21.

Calhoun says she died in the early Tuesday morning. She was shot and her body had burns.

An autopsy will be performed on Pace.

The shooting happened on Cockrell Quarters Road, just off Highway 388 near Brooksville.

Noxubee County Sheriff Terry Grassaree says suspect Marcus Gardner, 22, will be charged with murder and aggravated assault. Other charges are possible.

Grassaree says the young boy that was also shot is stable at a Jackson hospital.

Gardner was taken into custody at the scene of the shooting, some nine hours after the incident started.

He’s being questioned by investigators.

The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is on scene in Noxubee County to assist local law enforcement.

NOXUBEE CO., Miss. (WCBI) – The man wanted for questioning in the death of a Noxubee Co. woman and the shooting of her young child is in custody.

Marcus Gardner, who allegedly shot his girlfriend to death and seriously injured her young son, was taken into law enforcement custody just before noon Tuesday.
