Video: NTSB Releases Preliminary Crash Report
ABERDEEN (WCBI) – A preliminary National Transportation Safety Board report does not show a clear cut cause for the March plane crash which killed a Hatley pilot and a Columbus businessman.
The report shows the March 28th flight lasted about one minute before the plane crashed near the Monroe County airport. Investigators say an audio recording indicates the engines on the plane were working normally until the sounds of the plane striking trees can be heard. The crash scene stretches about 400 feet and shows one wing was torn from the plane on impact and the other wing and tail eventually broke apart from the fuselage. There were no signs of a fire at the crash site. Pilot Richard Justice and Columbus businessman John Nuesch both died in the March 28th crash.
