Officer’s Name Revealed in Off-Duty Crash

TUPELO, Miss. (PRESS RELEASE)- The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating a crash in Tupelo, involving an off-duty police officer.

Troopers responded to the crash scene at the intersection of MS Highway 6 and Gloster Street, at approximately 2:45pm, Saturday, August 19th.

Upon arriving it appeared Larry Curry, 63, of Tupelo, was traveling west on Main Street, in a 2015 Jeep Wrangler, when he attempted to turn south on Gloster Street and apparently pulled into the path of an east bound, 2015 Yamaha, operated by Adam Merrill, 35, of Pontotoc.

Curry was not injured in the crash.

Merrill was taken to a local hospital with life threatening injuries. He remains hospitalized with serious injuries.

Merrill is a police officer for the Tupelo Police Department.
