Oktibbeha Co. EMA Deputy Director Files Suit

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency Deputy Director is suing the county for sex discrimination.

In a federal lawsuit, Kristen Campanella claims the board of supervisors did not select her to run the agency because she is a female.

Court documents also show she accuses former EMA Director Jim Britt of having “animosity” towards females and misrepresenting to county leaders that Campanella did not want the job when Britt retired.

She also says some county leaders wanted a man for the job.

Shank Phelps was hired for the position.
