STARKVILLE, Miss. (WCBI) – Emergency information can now be sent to your phone.

Oktibbeha County Emergency Management Agency and the City of Starkville have joined together to put Code Red in action.

Code Red will allow the County to notify users of local emergencies through texts, calls, e-mails, and social media.

The new system will alert residents of bad weather, fires, boil water notices, and missing children alerts.

The Oktibbeha County EMA is encouraging residents to register home and cell phones for the service.
