Oktibbeha County Investigators Are Searching For The Car Involved In The Fatal Hit & Run

OKTIBBEHA COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Oktibbeha County investigators are still trying to find the car involved in Monday night’s hit and run that killed a bicyclist.

23-year-old Dshante Nix died after being struck on old Highway 25.

Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney says deputies responded to the scene around 7:45 Monday, September  night.

Nix was traveling in the southbound lane when a car in the same lane hit the bike.

At some point, the driver of that car reportedly got out to assist Nix, who ended up in the northbound lane.

That’s when another car, driving in the northbound lane, ran over the biker and didn’t stop.

Based on the witness description, investigators are say they could possibly be looking for a greenish/yellow Scion.

“There’s going to be damage done to this vehicle. Maybe to the right side or underneath the vehicle, so if you know anything, please contact us, because we need to find out who this person is,” says Oktibbeha County Sheriff Steve Gladney.

Gladney says the suspect faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident.

He also says there could be other charges coming, depending on the outcome of the investigation.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is assisting the sheriff’s department reconstruct the accident.
