WEST POINT, Miss. (WCBI)- Four Columbus residents have been charged with armed robbery in West Point.

One adult and three juveniles are now in custody after allegedly robbing two men at gun point Monday (121-13) night on Grove Street in West Point.

Officers were given descriptions of the men and car they had been driving which helped them locate the vehicle.

Authorities say they recovered four firearms, a small amount of narcotics, ammunition, and a cell phone that belonged to one of the victims from the vehicle.

20 year-old Jeremy Brown, two 16 year olds, and a 17 year-old have been all been charged with felony armed robbery.

On Monday evening at approximately 8:30 pm, officers of the West Point Police Department were dispatched to the south side of town after a caller reported that he and a friend were robbed at gun point. The caller reported that at least 4 men approached them and demanded that they give them their belongings.

The caller also reported that each of the men had a gun and gave a description of at least one of the suspects and the vehicle they fled the scene in. One of the responding officers spotted a vehicle matching the description and followed until backup units were in close proximity to his location. The alleged robbers were taken into custody within ten minutes after the call to E911 was received.

A search of the vehicle revealed 4 handguns, ammunition, a small amount of narcotics and a cell phone that was alleged taken from one of the victims. The two men who were robbed were visibly shaken but otherwise unharmed.

According to Tim Brinkley, Chief of Police, “I applaud the quick response and vigilance of the officers that were on duty that night. We saw evidence of the effectiveness of officers that patrol different areas of the city. When this crime occurred one of the officers passed the suspects while en route to the scene. This was definitely one of those times when the police were in the right place at the right time.”

Arrested in connection with this crime was 20 years old Jeremy Brown of Columbus and three juveniles from West Point. Two are 16 and one is 17 years old. All are charged with armed robbery. Due to the nature of the crime the juveniles have been charged as adults but their names are not being released at this time. All four are currently being held in the Clay County Jail. Bond has been set at $100,000 each.
