One dead after shooting in Aberdeen

ABERDEEN, Miss. (WCBI) – The investigation into a possible homicide is underway in Aberdeen.

Monroe County Coroner Alan Gurley confirmed one man is dead after being shot.

The incident happened on Baptist Street in Aberdeen. Gurley said a man and his wife were walking down the street when another woman shot and killed him.

The man’s identity is not being released at this time. Gurley does say the man was 39-years-old.

Assistant Police Chief Quinell Shumpert said the suspect in the shooting is Lillian Cayson.

Investigators believe the incident occurred after an argument over a vehicle.

Cayson is currently being held in the Monroe County Jail.

Aberdeen Police are handling the investigation.
