Over 10,000 Mississippians have died of COVID-19

MISSISSIPPI (WCBI) – Mississippi hits a grim milestone in the COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to the latest release from the Mississippi State Department of Health, Mississippi’s over 10,000 Mississippians have died of COVID-19. And over half a million have been infected.

In numbers released today, the death toll now stands at ten thousand and 24. That’s out of a total of just over 501 thousand cases since the pandemic began.

There are a few positive trends. The number of new cases seems to be slowing down, as is the number of deaths.

Between Friday and Sunday, there were 555 new cases and 34 deaths reported.

Over 1.3 million Mississippians are now fully vaccinated.
