Oxford And Ole Miss Police End Rumors About Church Group

OXFORD, Miss. (WCBI) – A church group making its way, door-to-door, through Oxford has prompted a response from police.

In the above release, OPD says they started the investigation along with the University Police Department, after rumors circulated that the group might not be from a legitimate church.

Oxford Police say, quote, “the World Mission Society Church of God, is a legitimate church looking to expand to our area.”

Protected by The Freedom of Religion Act, this church is free to share information door-to-door, but police urge the public to call if there are any concerns for your safety.

Ole Miss Police also recommend that no one share personal information, let friends or family know your location and to be aware of your surroundings.
