Petition For Amiyah

PONTOTOC COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Take another look.

That is what the family of a 7 year old girl is asking the District Attorney in Pontotoc County.

Amiyah Braxton’s family has collected more than 2,400 signatures in hopes that the case will be presented again to a grand jury.

Amiyah Braxton was struck and killed by a motorist as she was getting off a stopped school bus on October 4, 2016 in front of her Pontotoc County home.

Last year a grand jury did not indict the driver

Family members say the driver should be liable under “Nathan’s law.”

That law makes it a crime for a motorist to pass a stopped school bus.

The grand jury meets this week and could hear more than 100 cases.

A list of indictments could be released in two weeks.
