Phone and Internet Service Is Still Down For Some Monroe County Offices

MONROE COUNTY, Miss. (WCBI) – Phone and internet service is still down at the Monroe County Courthouse, so the circuit clerk’s office will use the postal service to get information to citizens summoned for jury duty.

It’s now been five days since phone and internet services were interrupted because of a severed fiber optic cable.

Monroe County Road Manager Sonny Clay says the part to fix the cable is still not available.

Clay says summons have been sent out to 400 residents to report for jury duty.

Since they won’t be able to call into the office, Clay says they should expect to receive further instructions and information by mail.

Those instructions were sent out today, October 25.
