Phone Scam Surfaces In Chickasaw County

HOUSTON (WCBI) – Christmas is less than a week away but the Grinch is working overtime in Chickasaw County.

The sheriff’s department says it is receiving reports of a phone scam hitting the area.   The thieves are calling local residents from a number that appears to be from Chickasaw County on caller I.D. but instead is spoofing the name and number.  The caller says they need your credit card information say they can give you a better interest rate.   Investigators warn not to give the callers any financial information.
